Hellooooo world!

Welcome to Hoppie Moments! Let me introduce mah selfffffffff! My name is Hop, but you might know me from Eat With Hop!,  a food blog focused on connecting you to the latest food news and deals.

I made a this blog like over a year ago but never committed to fully regularly posting on it. I meant to post my experience on teaching abroad in Korea, butttttttt that job actually had me exhausted! So I never actually posted much here.

Well, it's time to revive this thing! I plan to post more now that I actually do legit have more time! It'll be a blog featuring my travels, product reviews, inspiration, and more!

And if you've never actually heard of me before.... well here are 5 random facts about me! Let's get to know each other, shall we?

1. My fave type of movies are HORROR MOVIES!

My entire childhood I basically grew up with my family watching horror movies. I mostly watched Asian horror movies, which are way spookier than American ones in my opinion, so I have grown numb to most horror movies these days. Nothing will scare me except pop-up scares in the moment. But if there is some psychological aspect to the movie, I will for sure be freaked out! I love Insidious and the Conjuring series!

What are your favorite type of movies to watch?

2. My fave type of anime? Anything related to dark / edgy themes, corruption, horror, sci-fi, mind-bending stuff.

Cartoons aren't just for kids! Japanese animation is more than just a "Cartoon". There are so many out there to choose from and they can be so profound too.

Here are some of my faves in no particular order:
  • Inuyasha (my first anime BF aside from Prince Zuko)
  • Psycho Pass
  • Attack on Titan
  • Parasite
  • The Promised Neverland
  • Full Alchemist Brotherhood
  • Akame ga Kill!
  • Yamishibai
  • Yona of the Dawn

What are your faves? Any recommendations? Let me know!

3. I used to live in Japan and Korea

Wow! I actually got to wear a real kimono! It was literally a tight experience haha

I am Vietnamese-American, but if you ever wondered why I post so much Korean and Japanese related things on my Instagram....well, I love culture! But also, I am familiar with those two cultures specifically because I have lived there before.

I have studied abroad in Korea before at Yonsei University as an UCEAP (UC Education Abroad Program) exchange student for half a year! It was one of the best decisions of my life! I also went back to Korea to work as an English teacher for the summer at an English Village. That was an amazing experience and taught me so many life skills.

Nell Concert in Korea!

I also studied abroad in Japan at Meigakuin University, also through the UCEAP program as an exchange student for half a year. Also, an amazing unforgettable experience. I also went back to Japan for the summer for an intensive Japanese language program to improve my Japanese language skills through Go!Go!Nihon.

I did everything I could to immerse myself in those two countries by meeting as many people as possible, doing as many activities as possible, and even finding a homestay program. I still keep in touch with the friends I made there today! If you ever have the chance to, I absolutely recommend to study abroad!

4. I became a we are mitรบ meme once.

when bae asks you to be more romantic

I actually felt cool to be featured on the We are Mitรบ Facebook page which featured this photo of Kevin and I holding up corny elote! This was at a food blogging event and I came up with the idea of writing "Love You" on the elote with the cheese!

You can check out the full post featuring this delicious corn here!

5. I have a massive collection of phone cases.

I love to dress up my technology in cuteness. If it ain't cute, I don't want it! Everytime I visit Korea, I buy a ton of phone cases. Why? Because only Korea has a wide variety of kawaii phone cases specifically for Samsung phones (since you know...they are the home of Samsung!). I currently have the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. I tend to keep my phones for at least two years because first of all, they are expensive, 2nd of all, I need to make it worthwhile to invest in all my kawaii phone cases! All of my phone cases have to be cute and practical. They are usually wallets or purses disguised in cuteness! Legit, I am known as "the person who has a different phone case everyday". I have so many, that people actually notice! haha Maybe I shall show y'all my collection soon!

Also, I honestly wish they sold cute and practical cases here in U.S. They mostly only have practical ones for Iphones, but they usually ain't cute. T_T
